FAQs

What happens once I book?

You will receive an email with instructions about how to call in. You’ll also receive a reminder email and text before your scheduled conversation.

What does the host do?

The host introduces the two participants, gives them a question to start their conversation and then leaves them in their ‘room’. The participants can call the host into the room at any time.

What are the questions?

The questions are designed to prompt conversation. The first question is very easy to answer and opens up many avenues for discussion. The subsequent questions require a little more introspection, but by this time, both participants are warmed up! We have tested many questions, and are confident that the questions are helpful to the conversation.

Isn’t it awkward?

The first few seconds can be mildly awkward, like meeting a new person in any social situation, but this quickly dissolves, assisted by the host’s first question. Any awkwardness quickly dissipates after the first couple of minutes. Being ready to listen and generous with your responses will encourage your conversation partner to do the same.

What if we don’t have anything to talk about?

In our experience, no pairs have had trouble finding things to talk about. Conversations which have been slower to get going have been greatly assisted by the questions which open up new avenues for discussion. You can always ask for extra questions.

How long does the conversation go for?

Conversations tend to go for between 60-90 minutes, but if you’re having a great chat, we don’t stop you. Our longest conversation has gone over 3 hours!

Is the conversation recorded?

All conversations are automatically recorded by the phone system as a safety concern.
